Costume Designer Márion Talán de la Rosa (mariontalandelarosa.com)
Born in Mexico City, Mexico and based in Brooklyn, New York, costume designer Márion Talán de la Rosa has collaborated with artists and innovators across dance, drama, music, opera, and circus arts for over two decades. Her work spans an extraordinary range — from concert dance to Broadway, from the opera house to the big top.
In dance, her collaborators include Pilobolus, the Limón Dance Company, BodyTraffic, Caleb Teicher, Bryan Arias, Sonya Tayeh, and the Juilliard Dance Ensemble. This season she costumes four world premieres at The Joyce Theater: On Contemplation of Wailing (Gibney Company, choreography by Jawole Willa Jo Zollar), a new work by Mayte Natalio for Parsons Dance, Virtuous and Vicious (Pilobolus, June 2026), and The Surge: An Ode to Sinéad O’Connor (Factory International/The Joyce Theater), directed by Sonya Tayeh, with its world premiere at Aviva Studios, Manchester in June 2026. She also brings her work to Hubbard Street Dance Chicago in a new piece by Chanel DaSilva, and to Los Angeles with Sprung Entertainment’s My Birthday Party — a joyous all-ages circus spectacle featuring artists from Cirque du Soleil.
Recent theater and opera credits include the Broadway debut of Marjorie Prime (2nd Stage, 2025), Oratorio for Living Things (The Signature Theatre, 2025; Ars Nova, 2022), Trophy Boys (MCC, 2025), Titanic (City Center Encores, 2024), Julia Wolfe’s Her Story (Tour, 2024), and Fire in My Mouth (New York Philharmonic, 2019). This fall she makes her Glimmerglass Festival debut with Happy End (2026).
Márion received a Drama Desk Award nomination for The Connector (2024) and a Lortel Award nomination for Oratorio for Living Things (2022). Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Playbill, The Washington Post, Broadway World, Broadway Blog, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and Broad Street Review. She has also contributed to educational theater programs at The Juilliard School, NYU Steinhardt, Montclair University, and Amherst College.
